Before you go
- • Check your own government's official travel advice for the country and region.
- • Working in healthcare or an outbreak area? Ask about vaccination (Ervebo, Zaire strain only).
- • Get travel insurance that covers medical evacuation.
During your trip
- • Avoid contact with sick people and body fluids.
- • Do not attend funerals where the body is touched.
- • Do not eat bushmeat or touch (dead) bats or primates.
- • Wash your hands often with soap or use hand sanitiser.
After you return
- • Watch for fever, headache, muscle pain, vomiting or diarrhoea for 21 days.
- • Symptoms? Call your doctor first and say where you have been.
- • Without symptoms you are not contagious.
